Project 4: Protest Pack
Chosen topic/issue: Anti-Fox Hunting Protest
For this project I am creating a protest pack to fight against an issue that I feel needs addressing. I chose fox hunting as there is a lot of issues concerning the strength of the ban and the hunters who continue to carry out their hunts, despite a ban being in place.
Examples of protest materials:
Quick Brainstorming:
Thumbnail Ideas:
I drew out some rough thumbnails to decide how to approach this project: do I go for a sympathetic approach, a more aggressive approach or a humour approach?
Information:
Chosen Thumbnail Ideas:
I narrowed it down to a sympathetic approach, depicting a mother fox and her cub crying, to appeal to those who may not be aware of what suffering foxes go through.
Final Thumbnail Drawing:
Thumbnail Media Experiments:
I looked at what media I could possibly use to get the affect I am looking for, using markers and coloured pencils.
Poster Designs (Digital Approach):
Although I had originally to focus on an analogue approach, I wasn’t pleased with the results, and wasn’t confident on how to carry the approach onwards, so I decided to see if a digital approach would yield better results.
Banner Designs
To add to my protest pack, I will need to include more than just posters, so I will look at other ways of getting a point across.
Placard Design
Leaflet Design Attempt
With some advice, I decided to look at making a leaflet for the purpose of spreading the information to those who may not be aware of what happens during the fox hunts.
After feedback:
Despite my efforts to approach the project with a digital point of view, the results were not as pleasing as I thought they’d be. However, I will return to my analogue drawings as it gathered stronger attention from my peers. I will also add digital effects, combining the two methods together.

Sticker Sheet
To expand upon materials for my protest pack, I decided to incorporate stickers into the pack.
